What does it truly mean to pursue the Kingdom of God? In a world driven by self-preservation and earthly ambition, Jesus calls us to a radical realignment of priorities. Being a Kingdom pursuer is not merely attending church services; it begins with anchoring your identity in Christ, recognizing His voice, and stepping out in active dominion over every sphere of life.
Point 1: Kingdom Identity — Knowing Who You Are in Christ
"As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew... 'Come, follow me,' Jesus said, 'and I will send you out to fish for people.'" — Matthew 4:18-19
A pursuer of the Kingdom must first know their true identity in Christ. Before Jesus commissioned the disciples to fish for people, He affirmed who they were to become in Him. Identity precedes assignment.
Practical Application & Example:
Resting securely in your standing as a redeemed child of God before attempting to produce ministry results.
Point 2: Understand and Recognize His Word
"The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned." — Matthew 4:16
"Simon answered, 'Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.'" — Luke 5:5
Kingdom pursuers do not operate on human logic or past failures; they move at the command of the Master's Word. When Peter surrendered his professional experience to Jesus' command, a miraculous harvest overflowed. Light breaks into darkness when we recognize and obey His Word.
Practical Application & Example:
Choosing scriptural obedience and faith over fear, even when human reasoning suggests giving up.
Point 3: The Dominion of Creation — Stewarding Kingdom Authority
"At once they left the boat and their father and followed him." — Matthew 4:22
"For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them." — Matthew 25:29
Leaving behind comfortable nets leads to true Kingdom stewardship. God entrusts talents, influence, and authority over creation to those who prioritize His Kingdom above earthly security. Faithful stewards multiply what the King places in their hands.
Practical Application & Example:
Actively using your career, talents, and resources to establish God's order, righteousness, and blessing in your community.
Conclusion:
To be a Pursuer of the Kingdom is to step out of darkness, embrace your royal identity, obey the King's Word, and exercise faithful dominion over all He has entrusted to you.
"Heavenly Father, awaken in us a burning desire to seek first Your Kingdom. Anchor our identity in Christ, open our ears to recognize Your Word, and empower us to walk as faithful stewards exercising Kingdom dominion in our community. In Jesus' name, Amen."
